Pebbles: Documenting Summer - Patio Party Style!

Hi Creative Friends!

Welcome back to the Happy Arty Days blog!
Today I am sharing the Pebbles love, and a little tutorial on how I am documenting our Summer memories with the gorgeous Patio Party collection from Jen Hadfield!
It's no secret that I am an enormous fan of Jen's designs, and Patio Party has my heart!
All those bright colors just scream Summer FUN!
Here's what I've created for today's post.....

"Hello Sunshine"

Oh isn't this sweet for Summer?!!
Hearts, tropical colors, flamingos and pretty blooms!
Summer Lovin' at it's best!
And better still, it's really easy for you to recreate!
Here's how....

To get started you'll need pattern paper, Citrus Sweet (reverse side, with the stripes) , white cardstock, Patio Party Thickers,  and a heart cut file or die cut.
The one I've used today is called Hello Hearts from The Cut Shoppe (get it HERE) , but you could even fussy cut your own hearts out.
You'll also need pattern paper Panels, and the 6 x 6 Paper Pad.

Trim your white cardstock to 11" x 11" and attach to that gorgeous striped paper.
The stripes on the reverse side of Citrus Sweet are so bright and just give me that happy Summer vibe!
Back your heart cut file with papers from the 6x6 Paper Pad, and the pattern paper called Panels.
It's important to include the woodgrain paper, as it compliments the Patio Party Thickers and creates balance on the page.

Glue your paper pieced cut file to the center of you layout, and then position the Thickers title into place - as shown above.
As I am documenting a Summer memory of my darling girl, Hello Sunshine was a perfect title choice. However, if this doesn't suit your needs, don't worry! There are so many other words and title options in this set of Thickers I'm sure you'll find something that works best!

Now it's time to prepare your Summer photograph!
For this layout, I've used a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" photo.
Using papers from the 6 x 6 Paper Pad, I trim two patterns to 2 3/4" x 3 3/4", and layer them beneath my photograph.
I attach a flamingo and blooms ephemera, before adhering it to my page.

Time to have some fun with embellishing!
I start by adding that Best Day Ever Wood Sticker to the top left hand side of my page, and popping a 6 x 12 Accent Stickers bloom beneath it. I also create a few embellishment clusters around my photo, using Ephemera, Accent Stickers and Dimensional Stickers. I add 2 more flamingos, to adorn the Sunshine element of my title, and a few more blooms scattered on my hearts. Oh, and don't forget those 3 super cute buzzy bee stickers - So cute!
If you love a really 'clean' layout, then this is complete!
But if you just need a lil more pop color for your Summer themes, then see below....

With a fine brush & steady hand, apply hot pink watercolor to your layout focal points.
Add a few splatters for good measure!
I even added a few tiny droplets of that sky blue to balance the colors in my design.
And there you  have it! Summer memories beautifully documented with Patio Party!

Here's a few close ups for you....

Such a gorgeous color scheme! And those flamingos are just perfection!

Loving that woodgrain element, especially with the pops of hot pink!

I just adore the blooms in that embellishment cluster!

SO very beautiful!
I hope I have inspired you to start documenting your favorite Summer moments too!
Thanks so much for visiting today!

Paper Issues: February Swag Bag

Hi Happy Arty Days Fans!

It's time for one of my favourite shares on the Paper Issues calendar,

It's no secret how much I LOVE the Paper Issues Swag Bags!
I often refer to them as lil gems or bags of gold, cause they're that awesome!
A sampler bag if you will, of what's hip, cool, sassy and fun in the Paper Issues store!
I have fallen head over heels for the January bag...
I actually ordered two of them - one for scrapboooking and one for planning!

Here's a peak at my planner with the January Swag Bag....

So much prettiness!!!
You can see a video and more pics of my planner spread over on my

And here's my layout! It's created entirely from the January Swag Bag
(except for  the 12 x 12 cardstock & watercolor paints - they're from my stash) .....

"ADORED"

More prettiness! Told you the Swag Bags are lil gems!
How totally divine is this?!! I love you indeed my darling daughter!
A whole ton of my kinda embellishments here - glitter stickers, clear stickers, wooden buttons & sequins! Love them all!
In keeping with the hearts theme, I cut out those polka dot hearts from the 3 x 4 cards that you get in the Swag Bags. The black and white really breaks up all that pink and makes everything pop!

All those hearts!
And speaking of hearts, how about that stunning fringed heart below....

Gorgeous! The heart actually had a Happy V Day sentiment on it, so I simply used a sticker to cover it. Works perfectly now! All the heart eyes!

Love the  3 x 4 & 6 x 4 cards in the swag bags - they're always so complimentary and coordinating to all the embellishments.
And seriously, ALL those embellishments!!! SO much in such a cute lil bag!

Love me a Swag Bag or two!!!
I hope my layout has convinced you to get yours on subscription so you don't miss out next month!
(At only $9.99 USD, they sell out super fast!)

2016/17 KAISERCRAFT DESIGN TEAM APPLICATION

Hi Happy Arty Days Friends!

I am so excited to be participating in Round 2 of the Kaisercraft DT Applications!
Having spent the past 2 years on the Kaisercraft team, I already feel like the luckiest creative alive!
That said, it would be a true honour (& dream come true) to renew my contract for a third year - so please wish me luck!
You all know how much I LOVE my Kaisercraft, and with all the wonderful new products coming this year, well...need I say more?! ;)

Round 2 requires one project from the stunning NEW Boho Dreams collection.
This task is easier said than done. Boho Dreams is so divinely gorgeous that I could've created an entire album of layouts, cards, & off the page pretties - not to mention planner pages galore!
In the end though, I couldn't go past the Specialty Paper: Dreamcatcher Die Cut, so I created this layout....

"You Make Me Smile"

Isn't that Specialty Paper just stunning?!!
Told you Boho Dreams was GORGEOUS! Such a warm, fun and contemporary collection!
Perfect for scrapping my Free Spirit with!

Kaisercraft Products: PS455 | Dreamcatcher Die Cut, P2107 | Feathers, P2108 | Young, P2109 | Wild, P2110 | Free, P2113 | Bohemian, P2114 | Adventurer, CT858 | Collectables, CD102 | Licorice, DD507 | Nesting Circles, DD769 | Be Yourself Word Pack, DD146 | You Make Me Smile, T303 | Foam Tape, T314 | Double Sided Tape 6mm.

So what was my inspiration for this layout? Great question.

Have you ever wished you could create the Silhouette Cameo Digital Cut File look without having the expensive machine?
Well, I do!
ALL.THE.TIME.
& when I saw the Specialty Paper: Dreamcatcher Die Cut
I knew that all my (Boho) Dreams had come true.

I also found that selecting just one or two sheets of this gorgeous patterned paper was way too hard.
Why not use a good dozen of them? I mean, they're too pretty not to showcase, right?

And how about creating a layout that has three levels of appeal  - one version for beginner scrappers, one for intermediates, and one for the more advanced scrapbooker? I tell you, my ideas are just endless for this collection!!!

But enough chattering about it, let's get on with the good stuff...

I always start my layouts with a 'flat lay' shot of what pattern paper combinations will work well together - you'll see from my photo below that I was already sold on that Dreamcatcher Die Cut before I even got started!

It's just such a fabulous design!

And if you're a beginner, or less confident scrapbooker, here's how you can incorporate this Specialty Paper into your page design...

I know, even just on white, negative space this paper is WOW!
Most of you will know how much I adore a 'clean' look & this is just up my alley!
To create this look, use the Nesting Circles Decorative Dies to cut the denim pattern paper
P2110 | Free,  & your photograph.
Combine and layer with some stunning Boho Dreams Collectables and,
 Voila!
A super pretty page that really draws you into your special photograph.

If you're a more seasoned scrapbooker, or love a lil more colour, the page above was part of my planning process. Next up, I used the Specilaty Die Cut as a template and began tracing the shapes I'd need to fill my design with to create that Cutfile look....

TIPS: Use soft lead pencil so you can erase any marks on your Specialty Paper at the end of the template process.
Be sure to draw onto the reverse side of the patterned paper that  you're using too!
When it comes to snipping out the shapes, cut 5mm wider than your pencil lines to allow room for taping down.

As I snipped my shapes out, I started arranging them in my proposed layout plan -
just to make sure I had the right colour & pattern combinations...

Once happy with the colour and pattern cut shapes, attach to the Specialty Paper using Kaisercraft Double Sided Tape 6mm.

You could easily just leave it like this and it would still look amazing!
What a clever design that Dreamcatcher is!
And doesn't it already look like one of those fancy cutfile layouts?!!

Level 2: Intermediate scrapbookers, or lovers of colour!
Attach your denim nested circle and photograph, with layered Collectables as per the beginner version. Mount the embellished Dreamcatcher onto the bluewash, distressed boards paper
P2113 | Bohemian and Voila!

Another stunning layout for your album....

I ADORE this colour combination! Soooo very pretty and it has a real bohemium warmth to it as well!

But for the more advanced, confident scrapboooker, you have a few more details to complete...

Firstly, you'll need to attach the center Nesting Circles cuts, & Collectables, with Kaisercraft Foam Tape to add a lil more dimension.
Secondly, mount your embellished Dreamcatcher to the more bold and contemporary, black and white stripes paper, P2108 | Young.

Using a bolder pattern paper, as opposed to a pretty coordinating one, will give more 'pop' and 'wow' factor to your layout. It really showcases that Dreamcatcher perfectly, don't you think?

Thirdly, to complete the look and add more of the cut-file look, cut the titles from black cardstock, CD102 | Licorice and use the Decorative Dies: DD769 | Be Yourself Word Pack and DD146 | You Make Me Smile. Attach to layout.

 Voila!

A striking, and truly stunning layout with Boho Dreams!
And I must mention that super awesome girl with the camera Collectable - isn't she the coolest?!

She really reflects my pretty subject in my photograph! So sweet!
I just love it!

And there you have it!
