Elle's Studio: Use Your Scraps from the August Kit!

Hi Creative Friends!

Welcome back for more Elle's Studio inspiration!

Today I am sharing some of my top tips to stretch the August kit & add ons!

I only had one of the 3 x 4 inch journal cards left from my August 2021 Kit - but that didn't stop me from creating a full 12 x 12 inch page! Here's what I crafted...

"High Five"

Wow! Such an amazing layout & you'd never guess that I was short on supplies!

Light Teal Cardstock Basic Shape Stickers, & August Labels.

Here are my top tips on using your scraps!

1. Add a mixed media base! A splash of paint, and some cleverly repeated stamping will create the illusion of 'more'.  I used the packaging technique to apply my blue watercolor paints, and then repeat stamped the scallop icon from the amazing Lizzy Alphabet Stamp.

2. Labels are everything! The humble label is such a useful and versatile embellishment.
I cut a few of the August Labels (and August Kit Die Cuts labels) into half and tucked them under my photograph. So even though I only had the one journal card to mount my photo onto, I now had the appearance of a layered cluster. I also used labels to embellish my journaling (let the good times roll) and enhance the torn edges at the top of my page. Simple, but so effective!

3. Die Cuts add interest, and dimension! Adding die cuts can really bring attention to certain page elements. I used the Proud of You Die Cuts to adorn my photo and make it the focal point. The die cuts also act as page builder, and create the illusion of a much fuller design - despite the lack of supplies.

4. Use your stamps! Not only did I use the Lizzy Alphabet Stamp for my mixed media base, I also repeat stamped the stars from this stamp set to 'fill the gaps'. Using different colored inks or similar stamps in different sizes will also create the illusion of more embellishments on the page.

5. Reveal 'snippets' of pattern paper to give the impression that there's more hiding!
I tore the edges of my white cardstock base and stapled my left over paper scraps to the back of these tears.

6. Make stickers do the hard work! The Light Teal Cardstock Basic Shape Stickers were perfect for tucking into my photo cluster. I also sprinkled some of the light teal stars around my page.

7. Repetition is key! I opted for a simple color palette which I repeated to use in my embellishment selection. The over use of the same colors enhanced the design and gave it a more plentiful appearance. I also repeated the star shape throughout my layout. Again, the overuse of similar items really enforced the abundant look of the page.

And there you have it! My top tips for stretching your supplies while we wait for our newest kit to arrive! I hope I have given you a few ideas to try!

Elle's Studio: Product Focus: Pocket Envelope Metal Die Set

Hi Crafty Friends!

Welcome back for even more Elle's Studio awesomeness!

Today I am shining the product spotlight on the brand new Pocket Envelope Metal Die!

As the name suggests, this fabulous die set is designed to create envelopes that fit inside a pocket page album - awesome, right? However, like all Elle's Studio products, they have been expertly designed to meet the needs of a variety of crafters!

This die set is great for creating cards, happy mail packages, and even mini albums! For today's post, I wanted to share how I used the Pocket Envelope Metal Die to create an interactive, hidden journaling scrapbook page! Such a versatile little die!

"Good Times" - 12 x 12inch scrapbook layout

Oh, how cool is this?! Rainbow envelopes for the win!

Let's take a better look...

Such a bright and fun page, and this is only enhanced by the colorful pattern papers from both the Adventure & Good Times 6 x 8.5inch Paper Stacks.
I organized my pocket envelopes into rainbow order, and labelled each one with the coordinating day of the week chipboard circle stickers.

I've also hidden a little note and or story for my son inside each of the envelopes - kind of like an Advent calendar with a lil surprise waiting inside! I love hidden journaling, and this is such a simple and effective way to incorporate more of it into my memory keeping pages. It's also really fun for my son to play and interact with his albums and find new joy in past memories too!

In true ROYGBIV style, I ended the rainbow with a violet envelope. I tucked this one under my son's photograph, because he is the gold at the end of my rainbow! I also sprinkled some of the acrylic stars through my photo cluster in rainbow order too!

Favorite indeed! This boy has such an amazing spirit and heart - he is our happy and our 'Good Times'. The Proud Of You Die Cuts communicated this sentiment perfectly!

Unlike the other pocket envelopes, I left the purple one open revealing the note card tucked inside. This is designed so my son would see it, and be encouraged to pull out the card.

I embellished his photo cluster with a mix of die cuts, and chipboard stickers but my favorite adornment is that fussy cut pie chart from the August Kit - so cool!

Everything about this page is so carefully considered, and is so beautiful in it's simplicity. And all because of one very small, but very versatile Pocket Envelope Metal Die! What will you create with yours? The possibilities are endless!

I hope my project inspired you today!

Elle's Studio: Five on Friday Inspiration!

Hey Friends, Happy FriYAY!

Welcome back for more Elle's Studio July Kit inspiration!

I can't wait to share what I've created using the exclusive July 2021 Kit and new release items! Today's post is all about highlighting 5 of the new products - hence, 5 on Friday!

Let's get started!

Firstly, here are the 5 products I've chosen to highlight...

1. July 2021 Kit die cuts

2. Adventure 6x 8.5inch Paper Stack

3. Cardstock Die Cut Tags

4. Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers

and last, but by no means least,

5. Summertime Tabs Stamp

Wow! SO much awesomeness to craft with! Some might say the Fantastic Five!

Here's what I came up with,

"Vacay & Good Times"

How awesome is this?!
Five products, and five stars! You'd never know that this page was limited to only five products - so many wonderful details to admire!

Other: White Bazzill cardstock, black stamping ink, machine stitching.

Let's take a closer look...

Firstly, let's talk all things pattern paper!
I think it's only fair to say that the new Adventure 6 x8.5inch Paper Stack is a serious 'must-have' item! With 2 sheets of 15 designs it's easy to create the illusion of full size 12inch papers. I butted together two 2inch strips of the striped design paper and adhered them to the back of my distressed white cardstock base to form a 12 inch background paper. So cool!

On the opposite side of my page, I layered two 6inch squares of the yellow striped paper over the top of my white cardstock. To build on my design, and to enhance my sunset photo I also machine stitched a pattern paper sunburst design over the striped yellow section. Plus, I even backed my photograph onto a paper base too! Pattern paper is definitely for the win!

And speaking of winning, how about the versatile use of the Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers? Apart from the obvious title, I also used these stickers to emphasize the sunburst rays! Such an inventive way to utilize the exclamation marks!

The June 2021 Kit die cuts were the perfect embellishment for adorning my photo, as well as filling some negative space. I combined the two tone banner with the Summertime Tabs Stamp to add a snip-it of storytelling to my page.

To fill more of the negative space, I shadow stamped the 'fun in the sun' sentiment - also from the awesome Summertime Tabs Stamp.

The Cardstock Die Cut Tags could be used in a myriad of ways, but I tucked mine beneath my photo to create even more visual attention.

Really simple, and such effective approaches for maximizing 5 products!

I hope my project has inspired you today!
