Hip Kit Club: October Mood Board Inspired Layout

Hi Friends!

Welcome back to the Happy Arty Days blog!

I can't wait to share another super pretty September 2020 Hip Kits project with you all!

My latest HKC Design Team assignment was to create a scrapbook layout inspired by the October mood board and include a creative custom title - so.much.fun! But before we get started, here's a quick look at this month's mood board designed by our amazing Morag Cutts!

Such a fabulous mood board! I had so many ideas for this one that I decided to challenge myself & incorporate every image from it into my layout! Here's what I came up with,

"Music ON, World Off"

Talk about fun! This is so super playful and cute! I created this page with a mix of the September 2020 Main Scrapbook Kit, Embellishment & Cardstock Kits! So many pretties this month - I couldn't resist using a little (or a lot!) from these fabulous Kits! Let's take a better look at it all....

The first image in the mood board features all those amazing framed pictures. Needless to say, this image inspired me to 'frame' my own layout using that wonderful striped paper from the Crate Paper: Maggie Holmes Marigold collection.

The second image has a pink background, and those incredible Fall leaves suspended from a line of string. So no surprises that I decided to recreate that image, as well as use the Tutu Pink Bazzill Cardstock (from the September Cardstock Kit) as my layout base. To enhance my string of leaves, I centered my photo through the string line, and added the golden bows from the Marigold Lovely Phrase Stickers to 'tie-off' the ends. I love how effective this looks!

I mounted my darling girl's photo onto one of the Pinkfresh Studio Days of Splendor Stitched Elements tags, and layered a chipboard bow  from the Embellishment Kit onto both my photo & the string line.

Pardon the pun, but this bow literally 'ties' my design together! The remainder of the string line is decorated with a mix of ephemera, sticker & wood veneer leaves to mimic the mood board.  So cool!

If you look closely at my darling girl's photo you'll spy that she is 'plugged-in' and listening to her tunes.  We had headed to the beach to shake off a heavy day, and  talked about switching her music on and the world off.... and so that is the simple story behind my layout title. To customize it in a creative way, I was inspired by the mixed fonts quote on the mood board. You'll notice that it features a plain & simple font in capitals, as well as a pretty cursive font. I replicate this in my custom title, using simple, fussy cut capital letters from the Heidi Swapp Old School patterned paper Weekend Vibes, as well as the golden cursive Delightful Alphabet Stickers. To add a little more interest to the hand cut woodgrain alphas, I machine stitch them into place. This not only looks great, but also adds texture and movement to the overall design. Love it!

Such a terrific custom title!

To add balance to my layout, I anchor the base of the page with a mix of fussy cut, chipboard & sticker houses - similar to the row of houses image in the mood board. This trims the page perfectly, and looks really sweet too! For finishing touches, I add a sprinkling of gold sticker hearts from the Pebbles: Jen Hadfield The Avenue collection and last but by no means least, I add that tiny gray 'this feels good' chipboard from the Pinkfresh Studio Days Of Splendor collection. This last little adornment is inspired by the circular, gray acorn in the final image on the board. Quite unintentionally, that last image also reflects the color scheme I used too!

And there you have it!

Lots of beautiful images inspiring lots of different elements on my page today!

I hope I have encouraged you to  play along with the October mood board, and get creating with our amazing Hip Kits!

Thanks so much for visiting,

Hip Kit Club: Color Challenge & Process Video!

Hi Friends!

Welcome back for more Hip Kit Club inspiration!
Today I am sharing my take on the HKC color challenge!
I had so.much.fun!
The April 2020 Hip Kits are nothing short of ahhh-MAY-zing, but rather than rave,
here's a look at my take on the Color Challenge: yellow, pink, dark pink & aqua....

"Sweet Happy Summer Days"

HKC-AmandaBaldwin-May22nd-Blog-02

Oh.my.heart!!!
As soon as I saw the Carta Bella: Summer Market collectionpick-up truck filled with flowers, I knew I would have to create one of my very own! I mean seriously, does it get any cuter?!! And how sweet with my two darling's photo positioned in amongst all those gorgeous florals!
Love it!

HKC-AmandaBaldwin-May22nd-Blog-01

The Crate Paper: Maggie Holmes: Sweet Story: Sweetest pattern paper was too pretty to refuse and I just had to have it for my layout background! Soft and pretty pink papers are one of my faves! The Carta Bella: Summer Market: Summer Day Floral paper from the April 2020 Main Scrapbook Kit was just begging for fussy cutting, plus the colors in the florals matched the color challenge. Needless to say, I snipped them out to 'fill' the back of my truck!

To create my pick up truck, I sketched up a quick stencil template in plain paper, and checked I had my proportions correct. Once happy, I overlaid the template onto the Bazzill Sparkle Bling Cardstock (April 2020 Cardstock Kit)and cut away! For the rear window and tires, I used some black cardstock from my stash - but you could easily paint or color the Bazzill White Cardstock to get the same result. I used a white gel pen to add a few highlights to these features too!

HKC-AmandaBaldwin-May22nd-Blog-03

The Crate Paper: Maggie Holmes: Sweet Story, 'HAPPY' Ephemera (from the April 2020 Main Kit) was the perfect adornment for the truck's number plate. I faux bolted it onto the trailer with the Carta Bella Summer Market Enamel Dots. Sweet!
Such a simple idea, but so effective!

HKC-AmandaBaldwin-May22nd-Blog-04

I also used the Sweet Story Ephemera to back my photo onto, and create a frame. I embellished my lovely photo with an ephemera bow and Summer Market Adhesive Brad, as well as more fussy cut florals and the 'favorite' Summer Market Chipboard Sticker.

HKC-AmandaBaldwin-May22nd-Blog-05

To add more playfulness and whimsy to the page, I adhered that cute Chipboard bee Sticker, and some of the Sweet Story Layered Butterflies to the page as well.

HKC-AmandaBaldwin-May22nd-Blog-06

For finishing touches, I added the Sweet Chipboard & Sunny Days stickers to my title and embellished with a few more Carta Bella Adhesive Brads

"Hello, Hello Sunshine"

Wow!!!

The cut file I chose to use is called Floral Globe and is a subscriber exclusive!
& my darling photograph is framed with that fabulous Pretty Little Studio frame from the Indian Summer collection - LOVE!!!

The Cut Shoppe: Love Layout & Process Video!

Hi Creative Friends!
Welcome to the Happy Arty Days blog!

I am so super dee duper excited to be sharing my first official project for

 Yayyy!!!
I LOVE The Cut Shoppe digital cut files, and have been wanting to be part of this awesome team for a long time.
Hooray for dreams coming true!
Such an amazing opportunity - I hope I'll inspire you!

Today's layout is all about putting the focus back on your photographs,
and the Piece Of My Heart cut file certainly does that and more!
Here's what I'm talkin' 'bout......

"Love"

Sigh! Isn't this just the sweetest?!!
All the pretty, girly things here!
Here's a better look at the cut file......

Get this awesome file from The Cut Shoppe HERE

This file is an absolute dream to create with!
With no intricate or tricky cuts, this file cuts out super fast! With its large, clean cut boxes you can see how it really puts the emphasis back onto your photos!
And if you're a lil time poor (aren't we all, these days?!) it's also super quick to back!

Here's a few close-ups for you.....

I have used the Crate Paper: Maggie Holmes: Flourish collection, as well as a few bits n pieces from the Willow Lane line, accessory stickers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio & my favourite Shimmerz Paints - for a gentle hint of color and shine!

So lovely, indeed!
You'll spy that I foam mounted the Piece Of My Heart cut file for added dimension & interest!

Such a fabulous cut file for my beautiful girl!

Want to know more about how this layout came together?
Please watch my process video  HERE
Also includes my thoughts on layout design, page elements, and why I didn't choose to back this file with multiple pattern papers (& it isn't what you might expect!)

Citrus Twist Kits: Sunday Sketch with the Good Stuff Kit!

Happy Sunday Lovelies!

My turn on the Citrus Twist Kits blog with today's super fun Sunday Sketch!
Here's what it looks like....

Oooh! How AWESOME is this sketch?!!
I loved it as soon as I saw it, & couldn't wait to play along with this design!
For today's sketch I wanted to showcase how fantastic the September "Good Stuff" Add-On Kit is -
here's what I came up with.....

"En Pointe"

LOVE!!!
Such a special moment documenting my daughter's first pair of pointe shoes! Milestone moment for every young danseur & ballerina!
And how gorgeous is this Add-On Kit?! Everything you see (apart from my cardstock base) is from this kit! Now that's cool!
Here's a closer look....

As it's a ballet page, I just had to draw on all the pink elements from the Good Stuff Kit. The Vicki Boutin Die Cut Ephemera pieces, combined with the MME Girl Meets Glam Decorative Brads, were the perfect option for all the ticket / tag elements in the sketch! They really pop against the otherwise black & white page!  Pretty!

For the pattern paper trim, I use the subtle polka dot pattern paper from the Maggie Homes: Willow Lane 6" x 8" Paper Pad. This paper also inspires the use of the polka dot alpha Thicker, as well as the coordinating brad over my photo. Sweet!
Carefully considered embellishments to adorn my page!

For finishing touches, I use the MME Girl Meets Glam Enamel Dots as an alternative to the paint splatter on the sketch. Love how this looks!
You can never have too many enamel dots, right?!

And there you have it!
My take on Citrus Twist Kit's awesome Sunday Sketch!

I hope I have inspired you to play along - I can't wait to see what you create!

Citrus Twist Kits: Heartbreaker Layouts!

Hi Creative Friends!

Time for my first installment of this month's amazing Heartbreaker Kits from Citrus Twist Kits
If you haven't already ordered yours, you can check them out HERE

This month's extraordinary Heartbreaker kits are jam packed full of so.much.gorgeousness!!!
And the stamps! Oh.my.heart, the stamps are errrrything!
But enough chatter, here's what I'm talkin'bout!

"Wonderful"

Wonderful, indeed! Fall pages never looked so pretty!
I have used the beautiful Heartbreaker Scrapbook and Embellishment Kits, as well as the This Is Life "Magic Happens" Stamp! Awesome!
I was immediately drawn to all the Amy Tangerine Shine On collection items in this kit! The patterns & colors just made my creative heart happy! There's also lots of die cuts from this line too, especially those stunning blooms!!! I use the Scrapbook Kit stamp on my cut apart label, and repeat the 'Be you, bravely' sentiment. All the other stamping is from the "Magic Happens" stamp. (And how sweet are those pink stamped heart icons?! Love!)
I am also crushing on that vintage music note paper! Seriously LOVING!

With a white cardstock background, it was a lil hard to see that 'wonderful' title. To add some definition to it, I smeared Coral Macaroon paint from the Mixed Media Color Pop acrylic paint from Vicki Boutin (July Mixed Media Kit) beneath it.  I also embellished my title with cotton floss from my stash, as well more of those heart icon stamps! Perfect!

Lots of pretty layers & details form this page.
Here's a closer look at the embellishment clusters.....

Stickers, die cuts, veneers, stamps, epoxy and puffy stickers - this layout has it all!!! So many pretties!
Here's another view....

Told you the stamps are errrrything!!! They print so perfectly, & compliment all styles of memory keeping - love 'em!

I've opted for a completely different look for my next layout....

"Remember This"

How fun  & fabulous is this?!
Apart from the obvious smaller size ( 8.5" x 11" ), I have created a less is more, clean lines kinda page! I have used the Heartbreaker Scrapbook Kit, & teamed it with embellishments from both the Add-On and Embellishment Kits. I just love the warm color scheme against the stark, white negative space - so refreshing and contemporary!
This page is for my 'documenting the everyday' album. It's a really simple, no frills album filled with favourite moments and photographs that I just had to record.
And aren't my two darlings just the sweetest?! Despite the 6.5yr age gap they totally dote on one another, and love to spend their after school time at the park together. So cute!

The Maggie Holmes Willow Lane clear stickers were the perfect addition to this playful design!

So simple. So sweet!

My next page is all the pretty things....

"This Story"

Gasp! Isn't it swoon worthy?! SO super pretty with all those gorgeous florals!
I have featured the PL Heartbreaker Kit, and combined it with the Add-On and Pattern Paper Kits. Just gorgeous!
I couldn't resist that pretty floral paper, and it's coordinating ephemera! Perfect for scrapbooking this sweet picture of my daughter & how cute is that deer?!! So adorable!
Here's a closer look.....

I can't handle the cuteness! All the heart eyes for that deer!
I also love the gold script puffy word stickers from the PL kit. They're bold in gold, but because of their intricate script remain very delicate in appearance. Love!

Beauty in everything, indeed! The exclusive epoxy stickers are so awesome! And those blooms are just too pretty!

Even the brads are adorned with roses! Floral love!

And last, but by no means least, I have this stunning page to share.....

"Simple & Sweet"

Sigh! Isn't this all kinds of prettiness?!!
I just fell in love with that divine mint green floral, and had to create a girly page with it!
Actually, I had to create with all.the.things! I have mixed most of the September kits to create this layout - but with so many beautiful possibilities, why not?!
Here's a few close ups for you....

So gor-jus! I just love how everything coordinates so beautifully despite being from a mix of the kits!
The scallop pattern on the woodgrain Willow Lane paper was just begging to be fussy cut & I used the scalloped trims as an alternative to ribbon or lace.
Such a great way to highlight & use a pattern paper!

Those golden Pinkfresh Studio puffy stickers are just awesome! So versatile and elegant, & they add warmth to an otherwise cool and minty fresh page!

And there you have it!
A first look at my creations with the gorgeous September Heartbreaker Kits!
If you haven't ordered your September kits yet, hurry on up HERE, as they're bound to sell out fast!
Or even better, set up a monthly subscription and never miss out again!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
I'll be back later in the month with more inspiration and memory keeping ideas!
til then,

Happy Arty Days,

Spellbinders: August Guest Designer!

Hi Friends!

Welcome back for more Die-cutting inspiration & fun!
I am super duper excited to be guest designing again this month for the amazing team at Spellbinders!

 Shop Here

I love their fabulous product range and couldn't wait to create with more of their intricate metal dies.
If you didn't see my first Guest Designer projects,
you can check them all out HERE.

For today's post, I received two gorgeous die sets to create with.....

from the Sew Sweet Collection by Tammy Tutterow

Shapeabilities Sew Sweet Trims Sew Sweet Collection by Tammy Tutterow

also from the Sew Sweet Collection by Tammy Tutterow

Shapeabilities Posies and Pennies Sew Sweet Collection by Tammy Tutterow

Aren't they both divine?!!
So many creative possibilities with both these dies!

Here's what I have created.....

Sigh! Aren't they the prettiest?!!
So.much.gorgeousness!!!

I have combined the Crate Paper: Maggie Holmes: Flourish collection with these incredible dies for both of these dreamy cards!
The pink and mint color scheme is just divine!

Let's take a closer look at them both....

"Hello Beautiful"

Hello beautiful, indeed!
For this card, I used the scalloped die to create the fancy 'trim' on my patterned paper card base.
I then combined white cardstock & the faux stitched rectangle die to create my foam mounted card base.
I die cut a mix of green pattern paper leaves, as well as a variety of the flowers. I layer the smaller flowers into the larger ones for added dimension & embellish the centers with buttons.
I use the small flag die as a banner, and anchor it with my card sentiment.
For finishing touches, I add cotton floss, buttons and a tiny chipboard heart to complete this sweet greeting card!
Just gorgeous!

The second card is just as sweet.....

Oh.my.heart!!!
This is my kinda happy mail! So very beautiful!
I combine both die sets for this pretty card!
I feature the scallop base for the fancy card front, & then embellish it with the Sew Sweet Trim. This particular trim is a fave of mine because, as you can see, it allows you to thread your ribbon through it!
Talk about being both clever and pretty!
Simple & sweet cards that will bring smiles to all who receive them!

And speaking of smiles....
While I was originally typing this post, my sweet girl asked me to create a card for her to give.
In her own words, 'it needs to be fresh, young and fun - for a thirteen year old girl. And not too cutesy either' lol! She really makes me laugh!
So I very quickly whipped up this 'young & fun' card using both die sets & the Pebbles Patio Party collection....

"Enjoy the Little Things"

Fun, yes?!
I hope she liked it!

& there you have it!
A few quick, & easy but oh so lovely cards with Spellbinders Dies!
