Elle's Studio: Throwback Thursday Inspiration & Video!

Hey Crafty Friends!

Welcome back for more Elle's Studio inspiration!

Today I am sharing a super fun Throwback Thursday project with you! Infact, I had so much fun creating today's layout there's even a process video for you at the end of this post! Yay!

For today's edition of 'Throwback Thursday', I'm being inspired by this amazing layout created in April 2020 by our incredibly talented, Suzanna Lee!

Told you it's amazing!!! Such a clever design, and one that instantly had my crafty fingers itching to make! That said, I didn't want to scraplift this layout, only use it as a starting point for my own variation.

So without further ado, here's my fun interpretation on the original...

"XO" - 12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout

Elle's Studio Supplies Featured: April 2021 Kit, Smile Cardstock Die Cuts, Springtime Stickers, Puffy Adventure Label Stickers, Acetate Heart Stickers, Cork Hearts, Love This Smile Stamp, & Celebrate 6x8.5inch Paper Stack.

Other Supplies: Smooth Bazzill Cardstock - Coconut Swirl, Permanent Black Crisp Dye Ink, & Machine Stitching.

Wow! That's quite a twist on Suzanna's design!

I really loved her original, so it was important for me to maintain the integrity of her design, but also create something true to my own style!

I personally love vertically aligned designs, so the first of my ideas was to rotate the original. I was also clearly inspired by Suzanna's large pattern paper cross over feature, which I interpreted as the letter X. One thing led to another, and my paper cross became a giant XO and formed my page title! To add more detail, and texture to my XO title, I machine stitched it into place. Such simple interpretations, but very noticeable differences!

Let's take a closer look at this sweet page...

I loved how Suzanna incorporated the 3x4inch pocket cards from the April Kit into her 12x12inch scrapbook page. I wanted to maintain this feature, but in a way that would emphasize my photograph, and fit well on the page. I opted to create a photo stack, with layered 3x4inch cards, and a couple of the Smile Cardstock Die Cuts. I foam mounted this stack for added dimension, and then embellished it with one of the Cork Hearts, and some Acetate Heart Stickers.

It's no secret how much I love Elle's Studio stamps, so needless to say that my version had to include the Love This Smile Stamp! It prints so crisp & clear that it looks like I used stickers! Gotta love that!

In keeping with Suzanna's page, I added a small embellishment cluster to the top left of my page. I also featured labels and journaling, as well as a heart (or two) to maintain the likeness of the design. However, where Suzanna had featured handwritten journaling, I simply scattered a few more Acetate Heart Stickers. To build up this section, I also tore the edge of the cardstock and added some pattern paper and a Springtime Sticker label behind it. This dramatized the edge of my page, but also aligned with my photograph to make my overall design more visually appealing.

Lastly, I created another smaller embellishment cluster towards the bottom right of my page. This was not only similar to the original page, but also added balance to my design.

And there you have it! The original was amazing, but I really do love how this variation reflects my signature style! If you'd like to know more, please watch my process video HERE.

Thanks so much for watching! I really hope you enjoyed my process video for Throwback Thursday, and feel inspired to get making!

A huge thanks to Suzanna Lee for the amazing inspiration too!

til next time,

Cocoa Vanilla Studio: Love You My Darling!

Hi Friends!

Time for a lil Cocoa Vanilla Studio Throwback Thursday inspiration!

One of my favorite scrapbook collections of all-time is the very beautiful WILD AT HEART line!

Image result for wild at heart cocoa vanilla

With so many gorgeous colors & patterns, I just couldn't resist creating with it again!
Here's my latest layout,

"Love You Darling"

Sigh! Love you my darling, indeed! Totally swoon worthy!
I took inspiration from the berry color in my daughter's shirt collar, as well as that lovely striped paper, reverse side, CV-WH006 FUSSY CUTS. This pretty paper trims both the top and bottom of my layout, and really defines my page. I create an ombre watercolor version of that pretty stripe through the center of my layout. This unifies my design, as the ombre watercolor look is a predominant feature in the WILD AT HEART collection. Many of the embellishments feature this stunning detail!

Let's take a closer look....

So.much.gorgeousness!
I embellish my sweet girl's photo with that pretty DIE CUT EPHEMERA frame, and tuck a few of the CV-WH006 FUSSY CUTS sentiment cards beneath it. I also tuck in a couple of the pink mini frames from the CHIPBOARD FRAMES pack, as well as CHIPBOARD & ACCESSORY STICKERS
Such a pretty photo cluster!

That CHIPBOARD STICKERS title is so stunning, and you can really see how impressive the ombre watercolor effect is! I layer the sweet ACCESSORY STICKERS my darling sticker over the chipboard for added impact.
To balance out all the berry & peachy pinks, I add a few subtle woodgrain embellishments to my layout.....

That woodgrain CHIPBOARD STICKER is literally, The Best! I add more of the CV-WH006 FUSSY CUTS sentiment cards to this top section of my page, using the Happiness RIGHT HERE card as an anchor to the overall design.
For finishing touches, I add more ACCESSORY STICKERS and lots of ENAMEL DOTS from the HELLO LOVELY collection....

So very beautiful!
I hope my Throwback Thursday layout has inspired you to revisit the gorgeous
  WILD AT HEART collection!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Cocoa Vanilla Studio: Throwback Thursday - Hello Lovely!

Hi Creative Friends!

Time to share a lil  Cocoa Vanilla Studio love,
& today I am celebrating Throwback Thursday with the gorgeous Hello Lovely collection!
I made SO many beautiful creations with this line when it was first released back in 2015,
but it seems I'm still LOVING it as I had no trouble creating with it again!
It's just soooooooo preeeeeetty!!!

Here's what I came up with,
"Love You"

Ga ga gorgeous!!!
You'll spy lots of pretties here!
I start with a white cardstock base, to which I add a scalloped punched border trim with pattern paper, CV-HL002 GLIMMER.
Next, I cut out that divine Butterfly Ring cut file (from Citrus Twist Kits) with our super beautiful CV-HL006 FLOWER PATCH pattern paper.
Absolutely gor-jus!!! This pretty floral paper is simply heavenly! I draw on the colors to inspire my mixed media base.

The media is a simple series of coordinating watercolor rings, paint flicks & splatters. Lots of fun! Once dry, I apply the Flower Patch butterfly ring, and begin to embellish the cut file.
First, I frame my darling photograph with an DIE CUT EPHEMERA frame, and then adorn it with pretty blooms....

Oh how darling is this?!!
So super sweet!
Next, I take as many butterfly embellishments that I can find, and add them to my page! I love the look of layered butterflies, so I use a few DIE CUT EPHEMERA ones on my cut file butterflies. Cute! For a bit of 'wow' factor, I also fussy cut that beautiful Monarch butterfly from pattern paper, CV-HL005 LUCKY DIP and add it to the largest butterfly in the ring. Talk about a feature piece! This is such a beautiful detail!

Isn't it something?!!
If you look carefully, you'll also spy a few teeny tiny WOOD VENEER butterflies layered on the cut file, as well as scattered around the ring, too! Speaking of veneer, I use the exquisitely cut 'love you' WOOD VENEER as my layout title. So awesome!

To draw a lil more attention to the title,
I add that stunning brass LUCKY CHARMS arrow to direct you in!
For the remainder of my layout, I simply decorate and embellish on and around the butterfly ring with SEQUINS, ENAMEL DOTS, DIE CUT EPHEMERA & more WOOD VENEER. With such a darling photograph, I can't resist adding a few DIE CUT EPHEMERA & VELLUM HEARTS. So Beautiful!

Such a simple design, and yet so incredibly detailed and beautiful!

All the butterfly LOVE!!!
I hope my layout has inspired you to go back and revisit some of the older
Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections!
I think it's safe to say that they're still winning my heart over!
Hello Lovely, indeed!
